Aggies end super season at Nationals
HOUSTON, Texas (May 14) – The fabulous season of the nationally-ranked #7 Cameron men’s tennis team (21-4) unfortunately came to a close this afternoon in the “Sweet 16” round of the NCAA National Championship tournament. The Aggies fell 5-4 to the nationally-ranked #19 Patriots of Francis Marion University (South Carolina) for just their fourth loss of the season. CU now returns home to Lawton with their season over, while FMU moves on to the “Elite Eight” round.

CU in "Sweet 16" Helvey named C.O.Y.
HOUSTON, Texas (May 14) – At Tuesday night’s annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awards ceremony, the nationally ranked #7 Cameron Aggie men’s tennis team (21-3) was given a few very impressive awards. CU’s two recipients on the night were head coach James Helvey and junior Daniel Pazos. The awards ceremony was held to coincide with Wednesday’s start of the final rounds at the NCAA National tennis tournament, which is being held in Houston, Texas.

Aggie men sweep regional finale
LAWTON, Oklahoma (May 9) – Cameron head tennis coach James Helvey was dowsed not once, but twice this afternoon as the nationally-ranked #7 Aggie men’s tennis team (21-3) clinched a berth in this year’s national tournament. CU swept the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (14-11) in this afternoon’s regional championship match at the CU Tennis Center by the score 5-0. The win extended Cameron’s playoff run into the final week of postseason competition and sends them to Houston, Texas, next week.

Aggies end season in national tourney
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 8) – The 2007-2008 season came to a close today for the Cameron Aggie women’s tennis team (12-10) who was taking part in the national championship tournament. This afternoon the Aggies lost to Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State (14-5) by the score 5-0. The two teams were matching up in the first round of the tournament in the first of two regional rounds. Cameron had an incredible season and played arguably the toughest schedule in the nation.

Aggies end season, except Svajlen
AUSTIN, Texas (May 7) – After a very impressive 2008 campaign, the Cameron Aggie men’s golf team ended their season today at the NCAA South/South Central Super Regional Championships. CU had advanced to the event after winning the eighth Lone Star Conference title in school history a few weeks ago in Thackerville, Oklahoma. This week’s event was played at the Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Cameron won the event last season.

Season over, Aggies win 35 games
ABILENE, Texas (May 5) – The Cameron Aggie baseball team (35-22) fell one victory short of tying the Cameron University school record for wins in a season this afternoon after ending their season with a 7-4, extra-inning (12) loss to the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville. CU started the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament on fire with a 20-2 victory over the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm on Saturday, but then lost to the Central Oklahoma Bronchos 12-6 last night to put them one loss away from elimination.

Aggie softball ends season in playoffs
DURANT, Oklahoma (May 2) – After shattering school and conference records all year, the Cameron Aggie softball team (35-30, 12-12 LSC North) ended their 2008 season this afternoon in the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament. Cameron went 1-2 in the event and will now enter the offseason training portion of their schedule. The tournament was played at the Durant All-Sports Complex in Durant, Oklahoma.

Aggies host annual athletic banquet
LAWTON, Oklahoma (April 28) – On Monday night in the CU Fitness Center, the Cameron University Athletic Department hosted the annual Athletics Awards Banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of each Aggie student-athlete, coach, trainer, and administrator. Nearly 200 Aggies and Aggie fans attended the banquet where barbeque was served and fun was had by all.

CU men’s tennis wins first LSC title
ABILENE, Texas (April 26) – The nationally ranked #7 Cameron Aggie men's tennis team dominated the Lone Star Conference regular season, and the Aggies continued that domination right through the LSC Championship Tournament. The Aggies won the program's first LSC men's tennis championship today with a 5-0 thrashing of nationally ranked #13 Abilene Christian at the Eager Tennis Center on the ACU campus. The Aggies, who are ranked #1 in the region, improved to 20-3 with the victory while the Wildcats, who are ranked #3 in the region, fall to 19-10.

Ags sweep ‘Dogs, end regular season
WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma (April 26) – In the final regular season action of the season, the Cameron Aggie baseball team (34-20, 27-17 LSC) today completed their four-game weekend sweep of the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs (12-36, 10-33 LSC). The Aggies won yesterday’s double-header at McCord Field in Lawton, then continued their roll with a double-header sweep today in Weatherford. Cameron’s next action will be late next week in the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament.

CU splits with ECU, heads to playoffs
LAWTON, Oklahoma (April 26) – On Senior Day at Cameron Field, Aggie fans witnessed everything from a three-homerun day, to a grand-slam, to even a marriage proposal. This afternoon the Aggie softball team (34-28, 12-12 LSC North) split their double-header with the East Central Tigers (21-34-1, 9-15 LSC North) in front of the largest crowd of the season. ECU won the first game 6-3, but CU bounced back to win game two 12-4 in a fifth-inning run rule.
