Aggies lose to Tigers in double OT
ADA, Oklahoma (January 31) – It took double-overtime for the East Central Tigers (6-13, 1-4 LSC-N) to knock off the Cameron Aggies (10-9, 0-5 LSC-N) today in Ada. ECU won today’s Lone Star Conference North Division men’s basketball game by the score 68-61. Despite dropping four straight the Aggies are still just two games out of playoff contention with eight contests remaining.
“It’s tough to go on the road and win in this conference, especially this late in the season,” Head Coach Wade Alexander said. “We tried a few different things out today and there were some positives we can take away.”
CU led for 19:56 of the first half but an ECU three-pointer with 4 seconds until halftime tied the game at 25-25. The Tigers then led for 19:09 of the second half when a pair of free throws by Kallan Glasgow ended the second half in a 51-51 deadlock.
Both teams hit a single three-pointer in the first overtime to send it to double-OT tied at 54-54. The Aggies went 3-12 in the final overtime period while the Tigers only missed a handful of shots to win it 68-61.
Glasgow led the Aggies with 21 points, while Milton Garner chipped in 19 points as CU’s only other double-digit scorer.
Nikola Vukadinovic and Paul Jewell both contributed 9 points, with Jamaar Burke’s 3 points rounding out the offense for the Black and Gold.
“We still have a lot of basketball to play and are in the running for the postseason,” Coach Alexander said. “It will be nice to be home in the Aggie Gym on Wednesday.”
CU hosts the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs this Wednesday (February 3) at 8:00pm in the Aggie Gym. The game will be the first of two consecutive CU-SWOSU battles.
Today’s game was originally scheduled for Saturday (January 30) but was delayed 24 hours due to hazardous road and severe weather conditions.
