Cameron players earn LSC volleyball honors

RICHARDSON, Texas (Sept. 22) -- Cameron University volleyball players Vicki Ibarra and Nicole Reinhart have been honored by the Lone Star Conference for their play in last week's Southwest Regional Challenge. Ibarra was named the Setter of the Week in the LSC North Division, while Reinhart took home Hitter of the Week honors.
A 6-0 junior middle blocker, Reinhart produced a .346 attack percentage while helping the Aggies to a 2-2 record for the week. The transfer from Grande Prairie Regional College totaled 35 kills and 17 blocks (including four solo stops) in 15 games. She also added one assist, five digs and three service aces as Cameron defeated Drury and Incarnate Word and lost to St. Mary's and 15th-ranked Rockhurst. Against Rockhurst on Saturday, Reinhart hit at a .478 clip, with 12 kills and just one error in 23 attempts. She also hit .419 (14-1-31) in Cameron's come-from-behind victory over Drury on Friday and now ranks among the LSC leaders in attack percentage (.262) and blocks per game (0.96).
Ibarra averaged 12.6 assists per game for the week. The 5-8 freshman setter produced 189 total assists in 15 games while adding 31 digs, four service aces, three kills and nine blocks. In Friday's five-set victory over Drury, Ibarra fell just one short of the school record for single-match assists, dishing out 75 as the Aggies rallied from a 2-0 match deficit. Her effort this week improved Ibarra's LSC North-leading assist average to 11.44 per game.
Cameron (8-7) returns to action this Friday, travelling to Wichita Falls, Texas, to take part in the annual Lone Star Conference Crossover meet. Coach Kim Vinson's Aggies will meet Eastern New Mexico in a 7 p.m., contest on Friday before facing Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 1 p.m. Cameron will wrap up competition in the event Saturday evening, with a 5 p.m., showdown with 21st-ranked West Texas A&M.
