Colbert signs with CBA's Lightning

(from Rockford Lightning Media Relations)

ROCKFORD, Ill. (Sept. 24) – At a press conference held at Jefferson High School this afternoon, Rockford Lightning coach Chris Daleo announced the signing of two of his draft picks from last week, Terrence Gulley and Brian Colbert.  Both signings are pending league approval.
“I’m loyal to the Rockford community and like to do anything in my power to help the area,” Daleo said.  “That’s why I’m giving these players an opportunity to come to camp.  They’re hungry and have played hard at my free agent camps.”
Gulley, a native of Rockford, is a 6-1 guard from Barat College.  He played for Jefferson High School and was a two-time NIC-9 MVP.  Last season he averaged 19.8 points per game and led his team in scoring 14 times.  He shot 46% from the floor and 39% from behind the arc.  Gulley was the 4th round pick of the Lightning in the 2003 CBA Draft.  Gulley attended multiple free agent camps over the summer and previously played for Coach Daleo at Barat.
Colbert, a native of Waukegan, IL, is a 6-2 guard out of Cameron University.  He was the 6th round pick of the Lightning in this year’s draft.  He averaged 17.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.  Colbert shot 46% from the floor and 39% from behind the three-point line.  He made almost 90% of his free throws (133-149).
The Lightning open its home schedule against Great Lakes on November 16.  For more information, visit the team website at
