Aggies stumble against ACU
LAWTON, Okla. (Sept. 30) -- Cameron fell behind early and never fully recovered in women's volleyball action Tuesday night at Aggie Gym. The Aggies dropped the first two sets en route to a 3-1 loss to Abilene Christian. The loss dropped Coach Kim Vinson's squad to 10-9 on the season, while ACU improved to 15-5 with its eighth straight win. Cameron fell behind quickly, losing the first set by a 30-24 count and failing to convert on a game point in the second set before losing 32-30. The Aggies mounted a brief comeback attempt, winning the third set 30-24, but lost the fourth game 30-25. Senior Kelsey Kosick led all players in the match with 30 kills and 24 digs. Freshman Vicki Ibarra produced 55 assists and junior libero Jenny Head added 23 digs. As a team, the Aggies collected 11 blocks, including six by junior middle blocker Nicole Reinhart. Michelle Bernahrdt paced the Wildcats with 22 kills and 18 digs. Setter Lindsey Martin added 55 assists, while Amanda Slate and Haylee Hartline chipped in 13 kills apiece. Cameron will look to get back in the win column on Thursday. The Aggies travel to Edmond to face two-time defending Lone Star Conference North Division champion Central Oklahoma in the divisional opener for both teams. First serve is set for 7 p.m., at UCO's Hamilton Fieldhouse.
