Aggies bounce back, top Midwestern

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Oct. 18) -- Four Cameron players posted double-digit kills on Saturday, as the Aggie volleyball team rebounded from a Thursday loss to take care of Midwestern State. Coach Kim Vinson's squad won 3-1, marking the team's 19th straight victory over the Lady Indians. Cameron dropped the first set 27-30, but stormed back to take the next three sets 30-16, 30-26, 30-18, improving to 14-10 overall and 4-1 in Lone Star Conference North Division play. Midwestern State fell to 11-16 and 1-4. The Aggies will return home on Tuesday to host Central Oklahoma in a key LSC North matchup beginning at 7 p.m., at Cameron's Aggie Gym. Senior Kelsey Kosick led an Aggie offense that produced a team hitting percentage of .272 on Saturday. The British Columbia native recorded 20 kills and had a .368 hitting mark while adding three blocks, 14 digs and a pair of service aces. Junior Morgan Meyer added 16 kills for the Aggies, while Tayler Turner and Nicole Reinhart each had 10. Freshman setter Vicki Ibarra handed out 56 assists and junior libero Jenny Head picked up a match-high 25 digs. Midwestern State started the match on fire, recording a team hitting percentage of .325 in the opening set. But the Aggie defense, which out-blocked MSU 9-4 on the day, clamped down the remainder of the match and held the Lady Indians to hitting marks below .060 in the remaining sets. After the first game, MSU managed just a .043 attack percentage. Kate Pence led MSU with 15 kills. Three other Lady Indian players reached the double-digit mark in kills, as well, including 13 from Joni Martin.
