Cameron's Kosick earns All-Southwest Region honors

LAWTON, Okla. (Nov. 26) - Cameron University women’s volleyball player Kelsey Kosick is one of 12 players selected to this year’s American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-Southwest Region squad, according to a release by AVCA officials this week. Kosick is the first Aggie player to earn all-region volleyball honors since middle blocker Megan Carter, Cameron’s all-time blocks leader, was selected in 2000.

A 5-11 senior from Fort St. John, British Columbia, Kosick recently completed one of the most prolific single-season offensive efforts in school history. The hard-hitting outside hitter became the first Aggie player to record 600 kills in a season, finishing with 644. Kosick also set seven other school records this season and finished her final season at CU ranked sixth among all NCAA Division II players in kills per game and fourth in the nation in service aces per game.

Earlier this month, Kosick was named the Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, earning first team all-conference honors for the third straight year. She also was named to the LSC postseason all-tournament team and earned LSC North Player of the Week six times during the regular season.

In all, Kosick finished her career with a dozen school records and one Lone Star Conference record, helping Cameron to three straight trips to the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament and an appearance in the 2001 NCAA II Southwest Regional Championships.
