Woods named LSC North Player of the Week
RICHARDSON, Texas - Cameron University women's basketball player Kimberle Woods has been selected as this week's Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Week, according to a release by conference officials. Woods earned the award following her effort in Cameron's 62-57 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
A 5-9 senior forward from Dallas, Texas, Woods scored 18 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in leading the Lady Aggies to a come-from-behind victory over the Lions. She hit two free throws with eight seconds left to seal the Lady Aggies’ five-point victory, helping Cameron overcome a seven-point second-half deficit in the process. Woods also added a steal and a defensive rebound in the final 26 seconds as the Lady Aggies improved 3-2 on the year.
Woods is the second Cameron basketball player to be honored by the league already this season. Senior forward Chad Crawford was named the LSC North men's basketball player of the week on Dec. 1.
Cameron returns to the court this Thursday, hosting Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference crossover action at Cameron's Aggie Gym. Tipoff in the women's contest is set for 6 p.m., with a men's matchup scheduled to follow at 8.
