GAME BOXSCORE >>
LAWTON, Okla. (Dec. 11) -- Marcus Girtmon scored 23 points and Chad Crawford added 17, but the Aggie men's basketball team had no answer for Texas A&M-Kingsville's Robert Hamilton inside Thursday night at Aggie Gym. Hamilton scored 20 first-half points, leading the Javelinas to a 74-62 victory over the Aggies in Lone Star Conference crossover action.
The loss dropped the Aggies to 4-3 on the season, while Texas A&M-Kingsville improved to 3-2.
Hamilton threatened to outscore Cameron by himself in the first half. The 6-5 junior forward scored the Javelinas' first eight points of the game and had 10 by the 11:15 mark in the first half. Hamilton's jumper at the 2:18 mark put the Javelinas up by 15 at 34-19, before the Aggies closed the half with a 7-2 run to stay within 10 at the break.
The Aggies trimmed the lead to just seven on a three-pointer by Girtmon in the early moments of the second period, but never got closer as Texas A&M-Kingsville outscored the Aggies 33-14 over the next 12 minutes to take control of the game.
Cameron will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., next week to take part in the annual High Desert Classic hosted by Central Missouri State on the UNLV campus. Coach Garrette Mantle's Aggies will face the host school on Dec. 19, then take on Missouri Western the next day in the 14-team, round-robin event.
Next home action for Cameron is scheduled for Jan. 8, when the Aggies and Lady Aggies host Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference crossover double-header set to begin at 6 p.m.
