GAME BOXSCORE >>
LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 19) - Four of Cameron's five starters scored in double-figures, but it wasn't enough for the Aggies to avoid thier 15th consecutive loss on Thursday.
East Central got a game-high 29 points from standout Darren Randall and survived a flurry of three-pointers by Cameron in the closing minutes to hand the Aggies a 69-61 loss at Aggie Gym.
Cameron will try to end the streak once again Saturday, visiting Southeastern Oklahoma in an 8 p.m. tipoff at SOSU's Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
Coach Garrette Mantle's Aggies led by as many as nine in the opening frame against East Central. Marcus Girtmon's fast-break dunk at the 11-minute mark of the first half made it 17-8 Aggies and Cameron led by seven with less than four minutes remaining in the period. But ECU closed the gap with a 9-2 run and took the lead on Jason Schroeder's three-pointer just before halftime.
After gradually pulling away from the Aggies much of the second half, East Central looked to have the game in control, leading by 14 with a minute and a half left to play. But a string of three pointers by Cameron late in the game made things interesting.
Senior Chad Caudill hit back-to-back threes to cut the lead to just eight with 56 seconds left and Jeremy Amos added another trey eight seconds later to cut it to five at 58-63. Caudill and Amos each added another trey in the final minute, but East Central knocked down six consecutive free throws over the final 37 seconds to secure the win.
Chad Crawford led the Aggies with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Girtmon posted 13, while Caudill and Amos finished with 12 and 11, respectively. Randall led the Tigers with game-high figures in both points and rebounds (14). His 13-of-20 effort at the free throw line helped ECU own a 26-7 scoring advantage at the charity stripe in the game.
