Lady Aggies top Southern Nazarene

OKLHAOMA CITY, Okla. - Coach James Helvey's Cameron women's tennis team notched another significant victory on Tuesday, defeating the NAIA's 13th-ranked Southern Nazarene squad. Cameron won by a score of 6-3, improving the team's dual record to 6-2 on the season.

The Lady Aggies took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Cameron's only loss came in the No. 1 slot, where SNU's top-ranked team of Larikah Russel and Nikkita Fountain defeated Madeley Ameerali and Taylor Ivie, 8-2.

Russel, the top-ranked singles player in the NAIA, and Fountain, ranked ninth in the nation individually, each won their singles matches for the Crimson Storm. But Cameron dominated the lower singles matches. Ameerali and Ivie both recorded perfect 6-0, 6-0 victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches, respectively, while Marianne Reeves defeated SNU's Sara Sills 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match. Sandra-Leigh King earned a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3.

Carolina Vera-Vera and Paulina Trujillo teamed to take a convincing 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and Reeves paired up with Kris Biegert to win the No. 3 doubles match in a tie-breaker, staking the Lady Aggies to the early lead.
