Aggie trio nets conference honors

RICHARDSON, Texas (March 8) - A trio of Cameron men's basketball players have been honored by the Lone Star Conference, according to a release by league officials on Monday. Seniors Chad Crawford and Jeremy Amos, along with junior Marcus Girtmon, were given honorable mention on this year's all-conference team, following voting by the division's seven head coaches.

A two-time LSC North player of the week selection this season, Crawford finished his final year with the Aggies ranked among the league leaders in both scoring and rebounding. The 6-4 forward from Indianapolis led the Aggies with 14.4 points and 6.1 rebounds a game and ranked near the top of the conference in field goal shooting percentage, as well.

Amos ranked among the Lone Star Conference leaders in three-point shooting this season, converting better than 2.7 treys per game. The 6-4 guard from Norman, Okla., averaged 10.7 points per game this season and ranked among the team leaders in free throw shooting percentage. Against Central Oklahoma on Feb. 26, Amos established a new school record with nine three-pointers made in a game.

Girtmon earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive season after finishing second on the team in both scoring and rebounding. The junior forward from Dallas, Texas, averaged 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds a game while leading the team in steals. Girtmon, the 2002 LSC North Freshman of the Year, finished the season among the top 20 individual scorers in the conference and was third on the team in assists.
