EDMOND, Okla. (April 8) - Jessica Hutton's RBI single in the top of the ninth lifted the Cameron softball team to a 4-1 win over Central Oklahoma on Thursday.

The hit sparked a three-run ninth inning for the Lady Aggies, who ended a 20-game losing streak with the win that improved Coach Gladys Crawford's club to 7-32 overall and 2-18 in Lone Star Conference North Division play.

Cameron benefitted from another solid pitching performance by Lindsay Williams in Thursday's second contest. The Lawton junior allowed just one earned run in nine innings of work, scattering six hits while striking out three.

Both teams scored in the first inning of the game. The Lady Aggies took a 1-0 lead when Lindsey Remington drew a bases-loaded walk i nthe top half of the inning. Central Oklahoma answered with an RBI single by Courtney Cole.

From there the game turned into a defensive battle. Cameron managed just three hits over the next six innings and Williams held the Bronchos to just four hits in the same stretch.

With the international tie-breaker rule in effect in extra innings, Cameron broke the game open in the top of the ninth. Remington led the inning off with a single up the middle before a sacrifice bunt by Williams led to Hutton's game-winner. The Aggies tacked on a pair of insurance runs on an RBI single by Evelyn Burton and an unearned tally on a UCO error and Williams retired three of the four batters she faced in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the win.

The win put an upbeat finish on what started out as a disappointing day for the Lady Aggies. Central Oklahoma jumped out to a 9-0 lead off Cameron starter Kelly Holden in Game 1 and held on for a run-rule shortened 9-1 win. Cole went 3-for-3 at the plate for UCO in the game and was one of three Broncho players with two RBI in the contest.
