Aggies to face Oklahoma in exhibition game

LAWTON (Aug. 8) - Cameron University officials have announced the addition of a men's basketball contest sure to build excitement for theupcoming 2004-05 season. Coach Garrette Mantle's Aggies will take on the University of Oklahoma in an exhibition game scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Norman.
 
Tipoff for the contest is set for 7:05 p.m., at OU's Lloyd Noble Center.
 
"We are delighted to have this opportunity to play against one of the top NCAA Division I men's basketball programs in the nation," said Cameron Athletic Director Sam Carroll. "(Oklahoma athletic director) Joe Castiglione and (Sooners' head coach) Kelvin Sampson have done a tremendous job with their program and we are excited to be included on OU's schedule this year."
 
The exhibition contest will be the first meeting between the two schools in men's basketball.
 
Oklahoma finished the 2003-04 season with an overall record of 20-11, losing to Michigan in the second round of the postseason National Invitation Tournament (NIT). It was the seventh consecutive 20-win season for the Sooners, who advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 2002 and won three consecutive Big 12 Conference postseason championships from 2001-03.
 
The Sooners will be led this season by 6-8 junior forward Kevin Bookout, who was one of 50 players nationwide named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason All-America Team last week.
 
Cameron, which finished 6-21 overall last season, is led by 6-5 senior forward Marcus Girtmon. The Dallas, Texas, native finished among the Lone Star Conference scoring leaders with 13.6 points per game last season, earning honorable mention honors in the LSC North Division. The Aggies are scheduled to open the 2004-05 regular season on Nov. 19 against Abilene Christian University.
