Volleyball extends win streak to six

LAWTON, Okla. (Sept. 21) - Nicole Reinhart had a field day at the net and Morgan Meyer pounded out 16 kills, leading the Cameron women's volleyball team to a three-game sweep over Tarleton State Tuesday night at Aggie Gym.
Cameron won by scores of 30-26, 30-18, 30-15, improving to 7-8 with its sixth consecutive victory. The win also snapped a five-match winning streak for Tarleton State, which fell to 12-3.
Coach Kim Vinson's Aggies started slow, but finished with a flurry against the TexAnns. Cameron hit just .048 in the opening set, committing nine of the team's 14 total hitting errors for the match in the frame. But TSU had 10 hitting errors to go along with six service errors in giving the Aggies the early lead.
Behind strong performances from Reinhart and Meyer, the Aggies settled in after the first frame. Reinhart, a senior middle blocker from Rosalind, Alberta, collected five kills on six attempts with no errors in Game 2, while Meyer was 7 of 13 with no errors.
With the momentum clearly on the Aggies' side, Cameron made short work of the TexAnns in the final set, hitting .467 as a team with just two errors.
Cameron also played stellar defense, averaging more than 20 digs per game in the match and out-blocking Tarleton State 10-4. Both teams had five service aces in the match, but Cameron committed just two service errors to TSU's 11.
Vicki Ibarra passed out 34 assists for the Aggies. Tayler Turner and Jenny Head collected 17 and 15 digs, respectively. Reinhart finished with a .692 attack percentage for the match, adding two service aces, two digs and eight total blocks.
Tarleton State got a match-high 17 kills from Seniqua Browder.
Next up for the Aggies is a trip to Abilene, Texas, to take part in the annual Lone Star Conference Crossover. Cameron will take on Angelo State on Friday, before facing Tarleton State again on Saturday morning. The Aggies will conclude action in the event on Saturday evening in a showdown with host school Abilene Christian.
