Aggies jump to No. 14 in coaches poll

NORMAN, Okla. (Nov. 4) - The Cameron University men's golf team took another leap up the NCAA Division II rankings Thursday, vaulting to No. 14 in the latest coaches poll released by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Previously ranked No. 20 in the poll, Cameron posted one of the biggest moves in this week's rankings. Only Florida's Barry University, which climbed seven spots to No. 8, made a larger jump in the poll, which is voted on by a panel of Division II head coaches. Coach Jerry Hrnciar's Aggies are also ranked 15th in the nation in the latest Golfstat.com head-to-head rankings, which are determined by a team's overall record against Division II opponents. Cameron posted a 165-15 mark in competition this fall, including team victories in three of the six tournaments in which the Aggies participated.

Cameron is one of three Lone Star Conference schools listed in the GCAA/Precept coaches poll. Central Oklahoma moved up two spots to No. 11, while Northeastern State remained steady at No. 21. Thursday's poll was the final GCAA ranking of the fall season.

Hrnciar and the Aggies are scheduled to resume competition this spring, participating in the St. Edward's University Invitational on March 7-8, in Austin, Texas.
