Aggie men make late run at Sooners
NORMAN, Okla. (Nov. 10) - The Cameron men's basketball team made eight of its first 12 shots from the field in the second half, using a 15-6 run to put a scare into the Oklahoma Sooners Wednesday night in exhibition action at OU's Lloyd Noble Center.
Cameron cut the Sooner lead to just 11 at 57-46 with just over 15 minutes to play. The Aggies stormed out of the halftime locker room, hitting eight of their first 12 shots from the field in the second half to force the Sooners into a timeout.
Oklahoma quickly regrouped, however, using its size and quickness advantage to take control of the game. Oklahoma forced the Aggies into 32 turnovers and limited CU to a .364 team field goal percentage.
Junior newcomer Arthur Trousdell continued to lead the Aggies' offensive effort. The 6-8 center, who poured in 22 points in an exhibition loss to North Texas on Nov. 6, scored 18 on the Sooners behind the strength of 6-of-11 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 effort at the free throw line. Trousdell also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Bam Harmon added 10 points for the Aggies, while Kalaan Brown and Sean Ormsby posted nine points each.
Oklahoma got a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds from preseason John R. Wooden Award candidate Kevin Bookout, who led four Sooners scoring in double-figures.
Cameron will continue its difficult exhibition schedule on Thursday. The Aggies will visit the University of Tulsa for a 7:00 pm tipoff, marking Cameron's third contest against a Division I opponent in a span of six days. CU opens the regular season at home Monday, Nov. 15, hosting Mid-America Christian in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer benefit game.
