Crawford resigns Cameron softball post
LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 11) - Cameron University head softball coach Gladys Crawford has submitted her resignation to pursue a career opportunity at Fort Sill, athletic department officials announced Friday. The Lady Aggies opened the 2005 season last Saturday, losing both games of a double-header to Texas Woman’s University.
Cameron Athletic Director Sam Carroll said the University will take immediate steps to ensure the Lady Aggies' season continues without interruption.
"We appreciate Coach Crawford's hard work and dedication to Cameron University and its athletic program over the past nine years," Carroll said. "We wish her well in her future endeavors."
Crawford compiled a record of 144-206-3 in eight-plus years at the helm of the Lady Aggie program. She posted three 20-win seasons, including a 22-20-2 mark in 2003 that garnered the team its first-ever berth in teh Lone Star Conference postseason tournament and LSC North Division Coach of the Year honors for Crawford.
A four-time All-American pitcher at Central State University, now the University of Central Oklahoma, Crawford was inducted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Hall of Fame in 1998.
