Lady Aggies fall to TSU in season finale
GAME BOXSCORE»
LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 26) - Senior Christina Buben led the Lady Aggies in scoring in her final game in a Cameron uniform and Brittany Cooksey eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career.
But the duo combined for more than 62 percent of Cameron's offense Saturday, as the Lady Aggies (11-16, 5-7 LSC North) shot just 26.8 percent from the field in a season-ending 56-37 loss to Tarleton State.
Buben finished the game with 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Cooksey was just 4-of-15, including 0-6 from three-point range, while finishing with 10 points. The rest of the Lady Lineup combined for 14 points.
Tarleton State led from start to finish in the contest, jumping out to a 16-2 advantage while holding Cameron to just one field goal through the first nine minutes of the game. But back-to-back three-pointers by Buben and Katie Stoll and a layup by Chelsea Turner kept the Lady Aggies in the game, trailing by just six at 18-12 with 9:14 left in the first half.
But the TexAnns (18-9, 8-4) led 30-19 at halftime and rarely let the lead dip below double digits in the second half. Tarleton State shot just 36.1 percent in the game, but was able to match every Cameron score while gradually pulling away. After TSU's Casey Davies converted a jumper with 9:10 to play, Cameron never got closer than 14 points.
