EDMOND, Okla. (March 29) - Travis Lovins continued his impressive spring run Tuesday, firing a final-round 71 to lead the Cameron men's golf team to a second-place finish at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic.

Lovins, a junior from Canadian, Texas, finished second individually with a three-round total of 211 (+1) as Coach Jerry Hrnciar's squad notched its sixth consecutive Top 5 team finish. The Aggies will have a final regular season tuneup next week at the West Texas A&M/Subway Invitational at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, before beginning their defense of the Lone Star Conference Championship on April 18.

Cameron entered Tuesday's final round in third place, one stroke behind Southwestern Oklahoma and 11 off the pace set by tournament host and eventual winner Central Oklahoma. But the Aggies battled windy conditions to make up the stroke and finish in a three-way tie for second with SWOSU and St. Mary's University. Cameron was awarded second place by way of a tie-breaker.

Wichita Falls sophomore Owen Mahaffey joined Lovins as an Aggie representative among the individual leaders in the tournament. Mahaffey shot a final-round 76 to finish tied with three others for eighth place with a 217 (+7) total. Lawton senior Kolby Seals, playing unattached, shot the low round of the tournament with a 66 in Monday's opening round and finished tied for 12th individually.

Duncanville, Texas, senior Ryan King just missed a spot in the Top 20, finishing tied for 21st with a three-round total of 221 (+11). Brian Adams and Nic Ware each shot 76 in the final round, finishing with totals of 225 and 226, respectively.

Lawton native Todd Dayton led UCO to the team title, winning individual medalist honors by three strokes over Lovins with a 208 (-2) total. UCO's Sam Proal and Southwestern's John Repp shared third-place honors, two strokes back of Lovins at 213.
