Lady Aggies continue to roll
LAWTON, Okla. (April 1) - The Cameron University women’s tennis team improved to 14-3 on the season Friday, dispatching Lone Star Conference rival Central Oklahoma at the CU Tennis Complex. The Lady Aggies swept doubles action to start the match and cruised to an easy 8-1 victory.
Friday’s win gave Cameron head coach James Helvey his 99th victory as the Lady Aggies head coach since taking the reigns of the program in 1999. Cameron will try for win number 100 under Helvey on Saturday, hosting Eastern New Mexico Univeristy and St. Mary’s University in matches scheduled for 9:30 a.m., and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
Cameron won two team points by default and after winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots, owned a 4-0 lead in the match. Seniors Paulina Trujillo and Taylor Ivie quickly ensured a Cameron victory, each winning their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Aggies also got singles victories from Thatianne Moreira and Carolina Vera-Vera at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Cameron received team points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, by default.
