ADA, Okla. (April 16) - Casey Seabolt and Nicole Fleming each homered to give the Cameron softball team a victory in the first game of Saturday's season-ending doubleheader at Lone Star Conference North Division rival East Central.
Coach Brent Shaw's squad posted a 3-1 win in the opener before dropping a 2-0 decision in the nightcap to finish the season with an 11-31 record.
The Lady Aggies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of Game 1. After a walk to Seabolt and a sacrifice bunt by Kristal Maxwell, Melinda Farrow doubled down the left field line to plate Seabolt.
Seabolt later made it a 2-0 game with a solo homer to left field in the top of the fifth. East Central cut the lead in half on an RBI single by Marcy Brewer in the bottom half of the frame, but Fleming answered back with her own solo home run in the top of the sixth.
Jessica Hutton (4-9) got the complete-game victory on the mound for Cameron, allowing one run and eight hits while striking out one. Seabolt finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
In Saturday's second contest, ECU pitcher Karah McFatter handcuffed the Lady Aggies. McFatter tossed a complete-game one-hitter to pick up her third mound victory of the year.
East Central got both of its runs on Shonda Cheshier's two-run double to left-center in the bottom of the second. Cameron's lone hit in the game came in the fourth on Stephanie Bour's pinch-hit infield single.
