Lawton's Madden twins to join Lady Aggies
LAWTON, Okla. (April 28) - Cameron head women's golf coach Rick Goodwin continues to build the newly formed Lady Aggie squad using a foundation of local talent. On Thursday, Goodwin announced the addition of former Lawton High School standouts Jennifer and Laura Madden to the team. The twin sisters, who are the daughters of Lawton High head football coach Clarence Madden and his wife Linda, spent three semesters as members of the University of Central Oklahoma women's golf team before transferring to Cameron prior to the Spring 2005 semester. Both are former All-State selections at Lawton High. Laura was named to the second team All-Lone Star Conference squad as a freshman at UCO last season, finishing sixth individually while helping the Lady Bronchos to the team championship at the 2004 LSC tournament. She also earned a Top 15 finish at the 2004 NSU Lady Reds Classic. At LHS, Laura was a four-time qualifier for the state tournament and a three-time all-conference selection. She collected 18 individual tournament titles during her prep career and was named the 2003 LHS Female Athlete of the Year after helping LHS qualify as a team for the state tournament for the first time in school history. She also was a three-year letter-winner on the LHS girls' basketball team. Jennifer also experienced a wealth of success at Lawton High, qualifying for the state tournament twice and racking up 11 individual runner-up finishes in her career. She helped LHS to a pair of conference titles during her prep career and was part of the Wolverine squad that collected four team tournament titles en route to an appearance in the state tournament in 2003. Jennifer also was a three-year letter-winner in cheerleading and basketball, earning All-American honors as a cheerleader. As a senior, she was nominated for All-State Queen. The Cameron University women’s golf team will begin competition this fall in the NCAA Division II as a member of the Lone Star Conference. Six other schools in the 15-member league also support women’s golf: Central Oklahoma, Northeastern State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M.
