Lady Aggies finish sixth at St. Edward’s
BASTROP, Texas (Oct. 4) - Rick Goodwin's Cameron women's golf team continues to show steady improvement in its inaugural season. After finishing 11th in its first-ever event two weeks ago at the Northeastern State Classic, the Lady Aggies turned in a sixth-place effort at this week's St. Edward's Fall Invitational at ColoVista Country Club near Austin.
Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State took home team honors in the event, finishing with a two-round total of 651. St. Mary's University was next at 655, followed by host St. Edward's University at 657. Cameron finished with a team score of 693.
Lawton High School product Renee Breeze posted a final-round 81 to lead the Lady Aggies and notch a Top 15 individual finish. Breeze finished with a two-round total of 167 (+23) to land alone in 14th place. Cameron's next
highest finisher was Pratt Community College transfer Krystle McCorgary, who carded an 85 on Tuesday for a 173 (+29) total.
Sophomore Laura Madden, who entered Tuesday tied for 12th individually, slipped into a tie for 32nd with a final-round 94. Devri Morgan added a 92 for the Lady Aggies, while Lauren Gonzales carded a 93 on Tuesday. Jennifer Madden, playing unattached, posted a 94 in the final round to finish with a
187 total.
Next up for the Lady Aggies is a trip to Granbury, Texas, next week to take part in the Tarleton State Invitational at Harbor Lakes Golf Club on Oct. 10-11.
