Aggie cross country adds Kenyan duo

LAWTON, Okla. (Dec. 30) - Cameron University men's cross country coach Matt Aguero has announced the addition of two runners expected to help the Aggies in their quest for a Lone Star Conference title next season. Kenya natives David Chirchir and George Njuguna will begin competition with the Aggies this spring.

"Both of these young men bring a wealth of talent to our squad and we're very excited to have them on our roster," Aguero said. "Both have posted times that are faster than our current team bests and that's going to help push the rest of our runners and improve our team as a whole."

Njuguna is a 6-2 freshman from Thika, Kenya, while Chirchir is a 5-6 freshman from Nairobi. Both will be eligible to compete this spring, as Cameron runners will participate individually in several track meets. The Aggies completed their first season of cross country competition this fall, finishing 15th at the 2005 South Central Regional Championships. Aguero will have runners competing in four meets this spring, beginning with the University of Tulsa Invitational on March 25.
