Gonzales leads Lady Aggies at LSC meet

TROPHY CLUB, Texas (April 18) - Lawton freshman Lauren Gonzales carded a final-round 80 on Tuesday, leading the Cameron women's golf team in its first-ever trip to the Lone Star Conference Championships.
Gonzales finished 11th individually and fellow freshman Laura Madden also notched a Top 20 finish, finishing tied for 20th, as the Lady Aggies wound up in sixth place in the team standings at The Trophy Club Country Club's Hogan Course.
Gonzales' two-round total of 163 equalled her low 36-hole score of the season. Madden shaved two strokes off her opening-round 86 to finish with a 170 total, while Breeze was a stroke back with an 85 Tuesday and a 171 total. Krystle McCorgary finished tied for 26th with a 174 total and Jennifer Madden totaled a 188.
Northeastern State ran away with the team title, placing three players among the individual Top 5. NSU's Allison Toomer won the individual crown after posting a two-under 70 on Tuesday for a 148 total. As a team, the Lady Reds posted a 621 total to finish with a 14-stroke victory over runner-up Tarleton State.
Cameron finished in sixth, just one stroke behind fifth-place Southwestern Oklahoma and five back of fourth-place Texas A&M-Commerce.
