Aggies add Los Angeles guard Joseph Bolden
LAWTON, Okla. (April 20) – Cameron men’s basketball head coach Maury Leitzke has announced his first signing of the 2006 recruiting class. Los Angeles native Joseph Bolden has signed on for the 2006-07 season after spending last season at West Los Angeles College.
A 6-2 guard with a 6-7 wingspan, Bolden earned all-conference honors as a sophomore last season while leading the Oilers to their first 20-win season and first conference title in school history. He averaged 14 points and four assists per game last year, while also chipping in four rebounds and two steals per game. He was rated as one of the top 100 junior college players in the state of California.
At Pacific Palisades High School, Bolden was an all-star selection and earned first team All-Senior team honors.
"Joseph is the type of player who makes everyone on the court around him better," Leitzke said. "We are thrilled to have Joseph joining our squad. He’s a quality player, but more importantly, he’s a quality young man and we are very excited to have him in our program."
Cameron finished the 2005-06 season with a 12-15 record. The Aggies’ final eight losses of the season came by an average of just 4.2 points, including three overtime setbacks in Lone Star Conference North Division play. Three Cameron players earned individual conference postseason honors. Senior center Arthur Trousdell and junior guard Matt Reid were named to the men's All-LSC North second team. Junior Brandon Smith was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the division.
