Cameron golfers collect conference awards
RICHARDSON, Texas (April 24) - Cameron University golfers have picked up an armful of postseason awards in the Lone Star Conference, according to a release by conference officials.
Two members of the Aggie men's team earned first team all-conference honors, while three Lady Aggies earned All-LSC honorable mention as the league's annual postseason awards were announced at the championship banquet held in conjunction with the LSC Golf Championships at Trophy Club Country Club near Dallas.
Senior Travis Lovins and junior Owen Mahaffey were among the five golfers selected to the men's all-conference first team. Mahaffey also earned all-tournament honors at the LSC championships, finishing second in the individual standings after losing a playoff to Central Oklahoma's Todd Dayton.
For the ladies, Lawton natives Laura Madden, Lauren Gonzales and Renee Breeze each earned honorable mention after leading the Lady Aggies in their inaugural season.
Cameron's men finished third at the conference tournament, just one stroke out of a playoff, which Northeastern State won over UCO to claim the LSC tournament crown. The Lady Aggies, competing in their first-ever conference tourney, finished sixth.
