Three Lady Aggies earn LSC honors
RICHARDSON, Texas (May 1) - Three members of the Cameron softball team have earned postseason honors in the Lone Star Conference, according to a release by conference officials.
Junior shortstop Stephanie Bour earned All-LSC North Division first team honors, while senior outfielder Melinda Farrow was named to the All-LSC North second team. Lawton freshman Megan Young earned honorable mention honors in the division, as well.
All three players were integral in a turnaround this season for the Lady Aggies under second-year head coach Brent Shaw. Cameron more than doubled its win total this year over the previous season, improving from 11-31 a year ago to 23-31 this season.
Bour led the team and ranked among the conference leaders with a .371 batting average, while also establishing single-season school records for at-bats, runs scored and total hits. A native of Springfield, Ore., and a transfer from Central Arizona Junior College prior to the 2005 season, Bour also led the Lady Aggies with 12 doubles and 103 defensive assists.
Farrow earned postseason honors for the second straight year after earning All-LSC North second team honors in 2005, as well. The Binger, Okla., product had 13 extra-base hits for the Lady Aggies this season, finishing with a .276 batting average.
Young finished the year third on the team in hitting while leading the Lady Aggies with 12 stolen bases. She finished second on the team in defensive assists and was one of four Cameron players with more than 100 defensive putouts this season.
