Aggies sign Texas prep standout

LAWTON, Okla. (May 16) – Cameron University head softball coach Brent Shaw has announced the addition of another player expected to aid the Aggies in their quest for a Lone Star Conference championship next season. Dripping Springs, Texas, native Callie Schlatter has signed a letter of intent to join the Cameron softball program for the 2006-07 season.

A senior at Dripping Springs High School near Austin, Schlatter has been named a Central Texas All-Star this season and has helped the Lady Tigers to the Class 4A Region IV semifinals, where they will compete later this week in San Antonio. The 5-5 catcher/outfielder was an all-district selection last season while helping her team to its second District 27-4A championship in three years. As a sophomore, Schlatter earned second team all-district honors.

In addition to her high school accomplishments, Schlatter has also been a member of several successful club/select teams in the Austin area, including the Austin Storm, Austin Attitude and Hearts of Texas. She is the daughter of Dean and Tracey Schlatter and plans to study agriculture business at Cameron.

Cameron finished the 2006 season with an overall record of 23-31, more than doubling its win total from the previous season. Three Aggie players earned individual recognition in the Lone Star Conference, including first team All-LSC North Division shortstop Stephanie Bour.
