Michigan native signs with Aggies

Amanda MooreLAWTON, Okla. (June 20) - Cameron University head softball coach Brent Shaw has announced the addition of Taylor, Mich., native Amanda Moore to the Aggie roster. A 5-9 right-handed pitcher from Taylor's Harry S. Truman High School, Moore is the younger sister of Cameron women's basketball signee Sarah Moore.

A two-time all-conference and three-time all-district pick at Truman, Moore set school records for single-season strikeouts (242) and strikeouts in a game (17) as a junior. She was also selected the Cougars' team MVP twice and was a three-year team captain.

Moore was also a Dream Team selection by The News-Herald newspaper in both 2005 and 2006. She earned News-Herald Athlete of the Week honors and was a Miss Michigan Softball nominee as a junior in 2005.

Entering district play this season, Moore led the Cougars with 150 strikeouts and a 1.46 earned run average. In a shutout victory over Ypsilanti on May 17, she recorded 12 strikeouts while tossing a one-hitter. She struck out a season-high 15 in a two-hit shutout win over Woodhaven on April 12.

In addition to her prep career, Moore also participated at the club level with the Livonia (Mich.) Storm 16U squad. She also was a three-year member of the THS basketball team, earning all-district honorable mention and the Cougars' Hard Work Award.

Academically, Moore graduated magna cum laude from Truman High School and was a three-time all-academic selection in softball. She was named the business student of the year at THS and spent seven straight semesters on the school's honor roll.

Cameron finished the 2006 season with an overall record of 23-31 in Shaw's first full season as head coach, more than doubling its win total from the previous season. Three Aggie players earned individual recognition in the NCAA Division II's Lone Star Conference, including first team All-LSC North Division shortstop Stephanie Bour.
