Cameron Athletics names new SID
LAWTON, Okla. (September 1) - Cameron University has announced the hiring of their new Sports Information Director. Craig Martin takes the reigns from former SID Steve Doughty, who had been with the program for seven years.
Martin comes to Cameron directly from the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a major in Business Management. While at OU he wrote for numerous sporting publications including the school newspaper, the Oklahoma Daily.
Martin began his tenure as SID on September 1, just in time to get ready for the 2006 Aggie Volleyball and Cross Country seasons.
Under Jim Jackson, Cameron University’s Athletic Director, Martin will be in charge of promotions, media guides, statistics, the Aggie website, and every other facet of Cameron Athletic Media Relations.
Originally from Colleyville, Texas, Martin has seen much experience in both the professional and collegiate levels.
Having held internships with both the Fort Worth Cats and Oklahoma Redhawks Minor League baseball teams, as well as with the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department, Martin has been involved in almost every aspect of a major sports organization.
While interning with the OU Athletics Marketing Department, Martin spearheaded an innovative "Tax-Night" theme at a Sooner baseball game that was featured in the USA Today. He also established an annual antique car show that has attracted some of the rarest automobiles in the country.
Martin now lives in Lawton and will be taking over the position of Sports Information Director on a full-time basis. He can be contacted through email at cmartin@cameron.edu, or by phone at (580)581-2303.
