LAWTON, Okla. (September 30) – The Cameron Aggie softball team beat the Alumni team 8-6 in the annual Softball Alumni game. The exhibition was a close affair that ended with the current Aggie team on top.
A crowd of around thirty people showed up for the 2:00pm opening pitch, and were treated to a talented alumni team that featured players from Aggie squads as far back as 1996. Every Cameron roster of the last ten years was represented.
Michelle Johnson Wanner started things off for the Alumni team with a solo homerun over the left-field fence in the second inning. She played for the Aggie softball team from 2002-2004.
The Bour sisters countered by providing the bulk of the Aggie runs. Senior shortstop Stephanie Bour got things rolling with a three-run triple and junior third-baseman Melissa Bour followed with a one-run double on the very next at-bat.
Pinky Farrow fired a two-run double into deep center-field in the third inning to keep the game close for the Alumni team. Farrow was a member of the Aggie squad from 2004-2006.
Freshman pitcher Sherry Tetreault started on the mound for the current Aggie team and was strong throughout. Tetreault is originally from Lawton and joins the team directly from Eisenhower High School.
Former Aggie player and current assistant coach Bridgett Davis also suited up for the Alumni team, but could not provide enough power to lift the Alumni over the Aggies.
The Cameron Aggie softball team opens up their regular season this spring with the St. Mary’s Tournament in San Antonio, Texas, on February 2nd.
