Cameron University appoints Brenda Dally as Director of Admissions

Brenda Dally has been appointed Director of Admissions at Cameron University. The appointment comes following a national search to fill the position vacated by Zoe DuRant, who retired earlier this year. Dally, a Cameron alumna, was most recently Assistant Director of Admissions at Cameron.

Cameron University named to inaugural class of Excellence in Assessment designees

Cameron University is one of only 10 colleges and universities across the nation to be named in the inaugural class of Excellence in Assessment designees, as announced by the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities (APLU). The designation recognizes Cameron’s commitment to the comprehensive assessment of student learning outcomes as a means to drive internal improvement and advance student success.

Cameron University welcomes 36th class of PLUS scholars

Cameron University has named 24 freshmen Presidential Leaders & University Scholars (PLUS) for the 2016-17 academic year. The PLUS program, now in its 36th year, is designed to reward students who have demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding leadership capabilities while in high school and to teach these students skills that will prepare them for dynamic leadership roles in their respective careers.

Art by Cameron University’s Katherine Liontas-Warren featured in solo exhibition

The work of Cameron University Professor of Art Katherine Liontas-Warren will be on display during “A Journey of Discovery,” a solo exhibition at the Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery at Oklahoma City University. The show opens on Sunday, August 21, with an artist talk from 1 to 4 p.m. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, September 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The show will be on display through October 7.

Cameron University Department of Theatre Arts announces 2016-17 theatre season

Cameron University’s Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts is pleased to announce its 2016-17 season, “Celebrating the Stages through the Ages!” The department will present a Shakespearean classic, a contemporary comedy, a Greek tragedy and a musical comedy. Season tickets are available for $35 for adults and $30 for senior citizens, military, non-Cameron students and Cameron faculty/staff. To purchase season tickets, call (580) 581-2346. Cameron University students are admitted to theatre productions at no charge with Cameron ID.

Cameron University staff member honored by Western Association of Veterans Education Specialists

Cameron University staff member Vicki Henson was honored with the Diana Davis Service Award for Excellence during the recent meeting of the Western Association of Veterans Education Specialists (WAVES) in Albuquerque, N.M. The award is presented to a WAVES participant who has demonstrated consistent vision, service and leadership in WAVES over an extended period of time.

Cameron University kicks off fall semester with Back to School Block Party for students

Cameron University will kick off the Fall 2016 semester with a Back to School Block Party on Sunday, August 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Bentley Gardens. The fun-filled event will welcome students to campus with a variety of activities, promising something for everyone.

Cameron University earns ranking as one of 45 Top Military-Friendly Colleges in America

Cameron University has been ranked among the Top Military-Friendly Colleges in America by Bestcolleges.com, one of only 45 colleges and universities to be ranked. Of the 39 four-year institutions that made the list, Cameron is the second-most affordable option and is one of only 10 public, four-year institutions to achieve a ranking. Cameron’s tuition is 65.5% lower than the average tuition of $16,012 for the 45 ranked schools. Additionally, Cameron is located in one of only seven communities on the list which share a university and an active U.S. Army base.

Cameron University presents Third Annual French Film Festival

Cameron University’s annual French Film Festival returns for the third year with six contemporary French language films on August 18-20 and August 25-27. Films slated for week one of the festival are “My Mother’s Castle,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “”Haute Cuisine.” Week two will feature “Le Concert,” “The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-sec” and “The French Minister.” Screenings will take place in the University Theatre at 6:30 p.m. and are open to the public at no charge.

Cameron announces Spring 2016 honor lists

Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the Spring 2016 semester. To make the President’s List, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 hours of classes) and maintain a straight A average (4.0). The Dean’s List requires a B average (3.00-3.99).

CU initiatives planned and budget approved for 2016-2017

Cameron University’s governing board reviewed major university initiatives for the upcoming year and approved an annual budget of $46 million for Fiscal Year 2017 during its regularly scheduled meeting today in Norman. The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents approved a $46,448,783 operating budget with more than $34 million earmarked for student instruction, academic support, student scholarships and tuition waivers, and student services during the upcoming academic year.

Cameron University Alumni Association welcomes 100 new lifetime members

As Cameron University’s Fiscal Year 2016 comes to a close on June 30, the Cameron University Alumni Association celebrates the addition of 100 new lifetime members during the year – an increase of 177 percent over the number of new members in the previous fiscal year.
