Aggie Women's Golf finishes 16th

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri (September 18) - The Cameron women’s golf team finished 16th overall in the Drury Regional Shootout Invitational Golf Tournament. With Tarleton State University finishing 1st out the 18 schools there, the Aggies stayed in 16th throughout the tournament with individual players bringing up scores from yesterday.

“It rained after we left the tournament yesterday,” Head Coach Rick Goodwin said. “We played better today than yesterday, even with the wet course.” Junior Renee Breeze jumped from 58th to 55th with her scores 86 on Monday and 85 today. Renee finished up the tournament with a total of 171.

Sophomore Marrik Wooten with scores of 84 Monday and 87 today went from 46th to 55th.  Wooten finished off the tournament with a total of 171 tying for 55th with Junior Reene Breeze.

“This is real early and a really young team,” Coach Goodwin said, “We will come back today and practice and condition all week.”

Sophomore Anna Hataway finished with a total score of 185. Hataway finished up the tournament in 82nd place with score 90 Monday and 95 today.

Freshman Blaze Petty made a strong comeback scoring 103 on Monday and a score 88 today. Petty finished up the tournament with a total score 191 moving her from 92nd to 89th.

“Our players really went up and play hard today,” Coach Goodwin commented, “But we still have a long way to go.”

Freshman Megan Whan started out Monday with score 103 and finished today with 113. Whan with a total 216 moved from 92nd to 94th.

Freshman Tori McOllom who played as an individual made a strong showing bringing scores from 101 Monday to 95 today. McCollom finished overall 91st with a score 196.

“We are coming back today,” Coach Goodwin said, “Only to leave out again next week to play at North Eastern.”

The Cameron women’s golf team will be playing in the North Eastern State Women’s Classic next Monday the 17th and Tuesday the 18th in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the Cobble Stone Creek Golf Course. The Aggies placed 10th out of 21 teams at this tournament last season.
